I viewed a session entitled Digiteens: Digital Citizenship by Digital Teenagers by presenter Vicki Davis and students of Westwood Schools located in Camilla, Georgia. It is basically a overview of students’ opinions and research on digital topics. This session was definitely worthwhile. The 1st four minutes of the presentation was about DWT (texting while driving) and I have already emailed that to my 16 year old daughter to view. Maybe since it is coming from teen peers, she will be more apt to listen instead of it just coming straight from her mother. The video made by the students then went on to discussions of safety and digital literacy. It covered topics such as posting inappropriate photos online, online safety, how to communicate appropriately online, how to tell what is a fake and what is a real website, stolen identity from online shopping, and use of wikispaces. Students’ comments of what they liked best was the ability to communicate with different cultures through use of wikispaces. This session could be used in any middle school or high school classroom when talking about internet safety.

I find that online delivery for professional development can be a great tool due to the fact that it can be accessed at any time. For example, while on the K12 Online Conference website I saw where educators were meeting at the school to view a particular conference then going out to dinner to discuss what they had viewed.
